About Dr. Daniella Maciel

Wellness and Talk Therapy in Dallas, Texas

I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and completed a rigorous pre-doctoral internship at the North Texas VA Health Care System, where I worked with Veterans in both outpatient and residential programs.

Over the years, I have provided trauma-informed psychological services across a range of medical and mental health settings, including neurology, oncology, university counseling, and Veterans’ healthcare.

I specialize in treating adolescents, adults and older adults with anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, interpersonal difficulties, chronic pain and health conditions, grief, low self-esteem, and trauma—including sexual, relational, and combat-related trauma.

I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space that feels safe, collaborative, and empowering. My individualized approach to talk therapy draws from the latest research to help clients build insight, resilience, and lasting change that extends beyond our time together. I am passionate about meeting clients where they are and serving as a supportive guide on their healing journey. My goal is to help clients gain new perspectives, deepen their emotional awareness, foster greater self-compassion, and not just recover, but truly thrive.

I have particular expertise in working with individuals navigating life transitions following serious health challenges, drawing from my background in neuropsychology and health psychology. In addition to therapy, I provide psychological evaluations, including diagnostic assessments for ADHD.

I’m also deeply committed to advocacy and inclusion, with a strong focus on serving LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, as well as addressing the unique mental health needs of women and neurodivergent clients.

Born in Oregon and raised in Dallas, Texas, I recently returned to my home state after completing my doctoral training in Florida. I’m bilingual in Portuguese and proud of my Portuguese and Brazilian heritage. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with loved ones.

I am currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship under the supervision of Dr. Jaya Mathew, as I finalize the steps toward independent licensure. I am excited to work with you!
