Diversity

Wellness and Talk Therapy in Dallas, Texas

Black Lives Matter.

Wellness 360 stands with the Black Lives Matter movement and will continue to work diligently to support the African American/Black Community.  Our beliefs and values align with those expressed in the following statements by the American Psychological Association (APA): APA stands against racism and hate in all its forms… We stand with all affected in addressing the trauma that racism and brutality inflict on the victims, their families, and their communities.

Furthermore, Wellness 360 remains committed “to actions that demonstrate our social justice values: scholarship, clinical practice, education and training, self-reflection, activism, and advocacy to end racism and other forms of oppression such as xenophobia, sexism, heterosexism, classism, ageism, cissexism, sizeism, ableism, and Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and other forms of religious discrimination in their multiple and intersecting manifestations. In all cases, we aspire to liberation.”

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

When it comes to discussing diversity, where do we begin?

As individuals there are a variety of descriptors that you may use to describe yourself- young, old, middle-aged, straight, gay, fluid, trans, Black, Brown, White, Multi-Ethic, large, small, intelligent, caring, and the list goes on and on. While not one of these aspects completely defines you, they are a part of you. You may accept, shy away from, proudly own, reject, or love these pieces.

You may have been in therapy before and felt exhausted by having to explain the basics of your lived experience in the world.  Your previous therapist may have even accidentally offended you and maybe you couldn’t find a way to tell them.

We don’t presume to know everything

Even if we share visible or invisible characteristics with you we don’t assume to know. It’s the complexity of these variables and your worldview that make you, and your story unique. As you’re the expert of your story, we encourage our clients to let us know if we ever misunderstand you. Wellness 360 therapists will give you the space to explore all of your visible and invisible identities.

The therapists at Wellness360 strive to continuously develop their knowledge and understanding of diversity components. This knowledge is acquired from our education, personal experiences, and from working with our clients. We believe this pursuit allows us to provide tailored treatment to each individual.
A primary focus of our weekly trainings is spent understanding and exploring power imbalances, biases, and our own lived experiences of privilege and oppression. These efforts allow for your therapist to create a warm and safe environment for you to process what can be hard to say or even think about.

You can be seen

Your Wellness 360 therapist aims to deeply understand the power of intersectionality and will be sensitive to understanding how these identities have impacted your life. Our clients often tell us that we create a therapeutic space that allows them to be seen, heard, and understood. We look forward to hearing from you, and are ready to listen to your experience.
